My father was a tough U.S. Army Staff Sergeant who lived and fought behind enemy lines in the hills of New Guinea long before General Douglas MacArthur returned to the Philippines. However, whenever he saw someone who was financially worse off than we he always recited the pray my Irish grandmother taught him, “There but for the grace of God go I.”

All Americans should remember that when we see the hoards of mothers and fathers with their children walking thousands of miles to get to where, but for the grace of god, all Americans have been privileged to go. All Americans need to get real with donald trump and call him out on the lies he’s peddling regarding a border wall. No wall is going to stop this.

And, there are real reasons for it.They all have to do with the economies of the seven countries of Central America not being able to sustain the livelihood of families and the grace God bestowed on America.

The per capita incomes and net immigration rates ( 2007–2012) per 1,000 inhabitants of the seven countries of Central America, which border Mexico on the south are:

  1. Guatemala — $4,060, -7.8
  2. Belize — $4,390, 22.5
  3. Honduras — $2,250, -10.3
  4. El Salvador — $3,560, -39.6
  5. Nicaragua — $2,130, -23.0
  6. Costa Rica — $11,120, 4.22
  7. Panama — $13,280, 7.5

U.S.A. — $58,270, Per capita income is 43% higher than all of Central America. That’s all seven countries combined!

The U.S.A. immigration rate is positive 15.9, which means 16 more people per 1,000 enter the U.S.A. than leave every year. Central America Total (all seven countries) per capita income is $40,790, average = $5,827, It’s immigration rate per 1,000 thousand residents is -53. For every 1,000 people who live in central America 53 leave every year. For every 1,000 people who live in the U.S.A. 16 more arrive every year. They don’t come to visit the Grand Canyon or see a Broadway play. The $10 billion trump wants to spend on an ineffective, AntiAmerican border wall would be better spent giving $1.5 billion to each Central American country to create jobs and feed it’s families.

If you lived anywhere in Central America, with your family, what would you do? There but for the Grace of God go we all!
