Ridiculously dangerous
To understand how ridiculously dangerous the “back to school push”, lead by trump and endorsed by his lackie, Florida Governor DeSantis, is, start by imaging your child standing in the center of a circle with a radius of 6 feet. That means it’s six feet from your child to every point on the circumference of the circle. The CDC recommendation for social distancing is six feet, which means no one else would be allowed within the circle in which you child is standing at the center.
To meet CDC guidelines the diameter of your child’s circle should be 12 feet, from one side of the circle to the other, directly through the center and the radius is 1/2 of the diameter or 6 feet. A diameter of a circle is any straight line segment that passes through the center of the circle and whose endpoints lie on the circle’s circumference. The radius of a circle is the length of the line from the center to any point on its circumference. The area of a circle = Pi * R^2 which in our example is 3.14 * 36 = 113 sq.ft.
“There has been a 90% increase in Covid-19 cases in US children in the last four weeks.”
All this means that every child in an elementary school in Florida should be allocated 113 sq ft. The average number of students in Florida elementary schools is 725, so Florida needs each elementary school to have 82,000 sq feet to allow students to return to school safely according to the CDC guidelines. That means the floor space in each elementary school in FL should be the size…
