The risks to returning to “Normal”

Dr. Anthony Fauci told the WSJ CEO Council there Will Be an End’ to Covid-19. He said;

“Effective vaccine and public-health measures could put the coronavirus pandemic ‘behind us, a return to ‘a reasonable form of normality’ is possible by end of 2021.”

However, Sir David Attenborough explains…“An estimated 1.7 million viruses of potential threat to humans hide within populations of mammals and birds. We are only just beginning to understand that there is an association between the rise of emergent viruses and the planet’s demise…The more we continue fracturing the wild with deforestation, the expansion of farm land and the activities of the illegal wildlife trade the more likely it is that another pandemic will arise…”We are going to have to live more economically than we do…Nature would flourish once again when “those ( nations) that have a great deal, perhaps, have a little less”.

Our selfishness has created it’s own pandemic. It has created a disease of global scarcity. Unless we begin to give back more to the environment, in terms of things like un-fished waters, uncut forests, unused energy and lives in balance with available resources, than we take from it, the environment will begin to take back us using viruses and disease. That is the clear and present danger we present to our children and grandchildren. It’s also our clear and present responsibility to eliminate the danger.

While we’re likely to see a vaccine for COVID-19, like Dr. Fauci suggests, that is not to say another virus will not emerge as a result of our intrusion into parts of the environment that are capable of releasing an as of yet unknown virus, forcing the Pharmaceutical industry to start up another arduous and tenuous vaccine development process.
