Yes, humanity and morality are complex and no doubt cannot be made to walk a straight-line which is why the founders of the U.S. based the system on tolerance for variations in both. Condemnation of others has been the great curse of “civilization”. To be “civil” and receive the benefits of living with others requires some degree of conformity which, in the case of human beings at least, includes some degree of what others consider to be morality, regardless of how many cells are scrambled in order to achieve that degree of conformity but that doesn’t mean those who are jumbling their cells along the way cannot be tolerated, to some degree, as they do. It’s all about the “some degree”.
